Fog in Longjii

Longjii, China 2005

I was shooting film in 2005. And I don’t think I had ever shot on a foggy day. I think I got lucky here because the fog didn’t cover this hill which was right below my hotel window.

Shooting in fog requires opening up a stop or two because the camera meter acts the same way as when you are shooting snow. It wants to darken the scene to a middle gray. Use your camera exposure compensation to get the shot you are hoping for.
