Portrait of a Kazakh Girl

Mongolia: Kazakh girl portrait

Kazakh Girl

Western Mongolia 2014

We stayed with her family. Three yurts set on a frozen prairie. The women of our group had one yurt, the men another and the Kazakh family slept in the third which was where they did the cooking as well.

The girl loved to come to our yurt to watch and listen to us women although she spoke only Kazakh. She behaved just as a seven year-old girl would in the west. Her bright eyes followed whatever we did and although she was interested in our belongings she never tried to touch anything. Well, maybe she was different from a girl in the west.

I used Color Efex Pro 4 and Exposure X to get this rose/yellow, old-fashioned tint to her lovely, little face.
