A tall ship sails on a choppy Pacific Ocean

Sail Ho!

California, U.S.A.2016

It’s easy to get interesting photos when you travel to exotic lands. It’s not so easy when you are home. But the tall ships came to a harbor near me and so I spent the afternoon yesterday staring into the distance at the ships that looked more like small ships than tall ships.  I had arrived late and missed their departure. Now it was necessary to wait for them to return. The wait turned out to be 3 hours long. I was freezing as I sat on a stone bench now and then grabbing what my friend, Torie, calls a desperation shot.

I waited because I envisioned the ships sailing into the channel with all sails billowing. That made the wait worth it. But that isn’t the way it went. They were still out of my lens range when the ships began furling their sails. However this ship turned so that the sun lit her sails. I shot this and called it a day. This has been cropped and blown up using Alien Skin’s Blow Up 3. I used Topaz Impression to give it a painting look.
