Sharisabz Market

digital painting of Uzbek man with smiling face

To Life!

Sharisabz, Uzbekistan 2012

A happy, healthy Uzbek man sells those fat yellow carrots that are one of the main ingredients of plov, the national dish of Uzbekistan, at Sharisabz market. He is the picture of health, evident in his smiling face and his healthy body…how many people of his age can sit on their haunches and then jump to their feet?  It must be those carrots!

I decided to see what this photo would look like if I used Topaz Impressions on it.  I like the way Impressions emphasizes his wrinkles and his eyes. (I did have to use a smaller brush because I didn’t want his face distorted.)  Impressions also colored the dull, gray cement with splashes of pinks, blues and oranges. I think it made the photo and the man himself more compelling.

Here’s the original. You be the judge.
