Bangkok: elderly woman wearing traditional hat and pyjamas paddles her goods to market

At Bangkok’s Floating Market

Bangkok, Thailand 2007

I’m going through some old digital files. I must delete some to make room for the new ones. After years have passed and I’ve glanced over a group of photos many times I’m able to pick out a few that I realize are beyond redemption. And, this is the good part, I find photos that I like. This is one.

I’ve made it look like a woodcut. I used many filters in Photoshop, just going where instinct led me.  The composition is good but what especially attracts me is her peaceful expression, her gnarled hands expertly gripping her paddle and the ‘jungly’ colors: muddy greens and dull purple-reds.
