Rural Romania

Tsurcana sheep lie in a Romanian meadow

Romania 2012

I wanted to touch the sheep or at least get close enough to get a sheep portrait, but they were too skittish. The shepherds gave me permission to try but I think only because my efforts made them laugh. I’m sure they could not imagine anyone wanting a picture of a sheep.

I’d never seen these long-haired sheep before. Their wool twisted into ringlets reminding me of a Hungarian Sheep Dog; I think they are called Puli.

One of my fave pix today is your Romanian sheep–they are wonderfully textured in b & w. Feel the need to touch them.
